When you become a Meter Network customer, your space is equipped with Meter Hardware, including our controllers and access points. We manufacture our own hardware to provide the best security and reliability of the network. All of the hardware and free upgrades are included in your monthly rate, so you don’t have to worry about paying any up-front costs or making trade-offs for optimal performance.
While the hardware that Meter uses is critical towards the goal of providing fast, reliable, and safe internet, the Meter difference lies in our software that we integrate into the physical network.
The Meter Controller is the heart of your network, enabling wired and wireless clients to access the local network and the internet. It acts as the DHCP/DNS/Gateway for the Meter Wireless Access Points. We typically install 1 controller per site.
The Meter Wireless Access Points (APs) contain radios that transmit data to devices. Each AP is equipped with 2 radios (2.4GHz, 5GHz frequencies); the majority of devices run on 5GHz, while 2.4GHz is legacy. The number of APs we install varies based on size of the office space and other space considerations (i.e., building materials, large conference rooms, etc.).
Meter hardware is best-in-class and uses the same manufacturing partners as comparable hardware vendors.
