MeterUp 2025: Networking as it should be

Summary

Today, more than 500 networking and IT leaders joined us in San Francisco and online for MeterUp, our annual conference on the future of enterprise networking. The takeaway was clear: networking is critical infrastructure. It’s time it’s built for performance, reliability, and scale.

Watch the full MeterUp 2025 keynote here.

In case you missed it, here’s a look at what we announced today and why it matters.

Quick summary:

  • Nine new hardware platforms built by Meter: We unveiled nine new pieces of hardware—each designed, manufactured, and tested by Meter—to deliver best-in-class performance and reliability.

  • Our ambition for autonomous networks: With control across every layer of the networking stack, a massive real-world dataset, and scalable compute, we’re building autonomous networks.

  • Major updates to Command, our generative AI: Command now automates issue resolution and support, and introduces the industry’s first automated network design and configuration engine.

  • Meter expands from the LAN to the WAN with Lumen: We’re partnering with Lumen to deliver, for the first time, a seamless WAN-to-LAN experience configured in a single workflow.

New hardware for the new enterprise network

We unveiled nine new hardware platforms, all designed, built, and tested by Meter to deliver enterprise-grade reliability, performance, and security. Each platform reflects our belief that better hardware leads to better software, and that both must be designed together to scale—from 1G to 1TB.

The nine platforms include:

  • Two Wi-Fi 7 access points
  • Three firewalls, including an industry-first, dual, high availability 20 Gbps unit and a 50 Gbps WAN firewall
  • Three multi-gig switches with intelligent PoE design
  • External, IP67 and extended temperature rated, 5G gateway with LTE resilience

Why it matters:

  • Over 3× higher throughput across all platforms than leading legacy options
  • 3× faster installation and provisioning due to simplified, zero-touch design
  • Half the total cost of ownership compared to legacy hardware

All Meter customers will be upgraded to the latest generation hardware by early 2026 at no additional cost.

Towards autonomous networks

Networks have never been more critical to how the world runs than they are today. From schools and warehouses to retail locations and offices, networking teams need more efficient and reliable ways to keep up with the growing demand on their networks.

We believe this is where purpose-built automation comes in. Tools that accelerate design, deployment, and maintenance. That’s why we’re building autonomous networks that spot problems early, correct them on their own, and maintain performance.

By delivering autonomous networks, we’re moving the industry towards a longstanding goal: from reactive management to proactive, intelligent infrastructure.

The future of networking isn’t managed. It’s autonomous. And only Meter can build it with our full stack control, large, diverse, clean datasets, and scalable compute from our partnership with Microsoft.

Command: intelligence for every network

Command, our generative AI for networking, is now directly integrated into Meter Support and Operations. Trained on Meter’s infrastructure and telemetry, Command delivers faster resolution, deeper insights, and an even better experience for our customers.

In support

When a customer or partner opens a ticket, Command analyzes real time telemetry, runs model jobs, and recommends actions to our team.

What this means:

  • Up to 90% time reduction from ticket submission to resolution
  • 100% of tickets now include model-generated insights or actions

In operations

Command now automates network design and configuration end to end. From initial call to final wired and wireless design, Command handles each step. Human operators provide structured feedback that trains our models for future deployments.

What this means:

  • Networks deploy 2x faster than with legacy vendors
  • Predictable, repeatable, and scalable service across multi-site rollouts
  • Continuous improvement through operator feedback and closed-loop learning

Networking isn’t a general-purpose problem. It deserves its own models that are built from the ground up to understand its complexity. This is what Command is delivering today to all Meter customers and partners.

Lumen and Meter deliver industry’s first WAN-to-LAN solution

Getting a new site online should never be a barrier to growth. We’ve partnered with Lumen to deliver the industry’s first WAN-to-LAN solution. By combining the best of both platforms—Lumen’s high performance WAN infrastructure and Meter’s LAN platform—we’re providing seamless, software-defined connectivity from edge to cloud.

Through Meter Connect, customers can enter an address and purchase a unified WAN-to-LAN solution with faster deployment, consistent performance, and a simplified workflow for procurement and installation. The offering will also be available in the Microsoft Marketplace, giving enterprises and partners a direct path to purchase that applies to existing Azure commitments.

What this means:

  • Fast deployments: Accelerated site activation compared to traditional provisioning workflows.
  • Unified visibility: WAN and LAN performance data in one dashboard, including circuit health and installation metrics from Lumen.
  • Streamlined procurement: A simplified purchase flow for scalable enterprise connectivity.

The result is a seamless experience from install to network go-live—all built to help organizations connect at scale.

What’s next

We build for customer outcomes. This means tackling longstanding industry challenges that others deem too hard to solve. The announcements made at MeterUp are all in service of better outcomes—moving customers away from fragmented, multi-vendor networking to a single, vertically integrated platform that delivers predictable performance, complete visibility, and soon, full autonomy.

It’s a network that’s built, not bought.
