Configure your networks with Policy Routing and MultiWAN

When managing many sites at once, it’s critical to prioritize redundancy for the network design; as a result, Meter always recommends the use of multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs). In October of 2023, we released MultiWAN capabilities to support ISP redundancy. Since then, we’ve internally supported you with multiple WAN connections, flexible routing, and optimized network designs.

Today, we’re announcing the ability for customers to configure these settings themselves with Policy Routing and MultiWAN. These features provide your organization with greater control over how traffic is managed across multiple local area networks, ISPs, and network paths.

Streamline traffic management with Policy Routing

Policy Routing allows you to specify rules that direct network traffic based on predefined criteria such as source and destination IP addresses, VLANs, or specific ports. Unlike traditional routing methods that rely solely on destination IP addresses, Policy Routing gives you the flexibility to enforce more granular routing policies, ensuring that critical traffic is handled according to your unique needs.

Whether you're managing traffic across multiple ISPs or prioritizing bandwidth for essential services, Policy Routing makes it easier to maintain optimal network performance. By assigning specific traffic flows to designated WAN interfaces, you can ensure that your most important data takes the most efficient path, minimizing latency and avoiding congestion.
